Commercial fryer won't stay lit?

Are you having trouble with your commercial fryer not staying lit?  Double check the items listed below or ask your service company to do so if you're not confident about doing it yourself.

  1. Pilot light: The pilot light may be out or not functioning properly. Check the pilot light to make sure it is lit and the flame is stable. 

  2. Thermocouple: The thermocouple is a safety device that detects if the pilot light is lit. If the thermocouple is faulty or not positioned correctly, it may not detect the pilot light, and the fryer may shut off. You may need to clean or replace the thermocouple.

  3. Gas pressure: The gas pressure may not be set correctly, which can cause the fryer to shut off. Check the gas pressure and make sure it is set according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  4. Clogged burner: If the burner is clogged with debris or grease, it may not allow enough gas to flow through and keep the fryer lit. Clean the burner thoroughly to remove any buildup.

  5. Malfunctioning safety valve: The safety valve is another safety device that shuts off the gas flow if it detects a problem. If the safety valve is malfunctioning, it may shut off the fryer even if there is no problem. You may need to replace the safety valve.
